Conventionally, the backspace key uses to erase the typed letters on your computer, irrespective of the company it comes from. But Microsoft has come up with an additional function for it. You can use the Backspace key to return to the previous page on your Microsoft Edge browser. Similarly, if you want to move to the next page, you must simultaneously press Backspace along with the Shift key. You can enable both these shortcuts on the system and make the navigation through pages hassle-free.

It is easy to make these changes since you neither have to download any third-party application nor make any changes to the Windows Registry. Generally, all browsers these days have dedicated keys to move forward or backward while browsing the Internet. It is in this scenario that Microsoft Edge has left others behind. You have to follow a few instructs mentioned below, and you’re good to go.

Use the following steps to go back to the previous page using Backspace Key:-

Step 1: Open the Edge browser on your computer.

Step 2: In the address bar, type the following and press Enter:-

Step 3: Go to the search bar and type Backspace.

Step 4: You will find a drop-down menu alongside the “Assigns the Backspace key to go back a page.”

Step 5: Click on Enabled in the drop-down menu.

Step 6: Next, you will be prompted to reboot your system. Click on it and let it reboot.

Both the shortcuts, i.e., the Backspace key to go back to the previous page and Shift+Backspace keys to move forward, will be simultaneously activated once you complete all the above steps.
