There are several keyboards available such as Microsoft’s Swiftkey,  Google’s GBoard, and even the built-in iPhone keyboard that adapts to how and what you type and makes suggestions according to it.

The feature is already available in software like Microsoft Office and LibreOffice and on platforms like Facebook, webmail, and chat services and now Microsoft has recently included it in Windows 10. Although it was already introduced on the older versions like Windows 8, it had limited functions. For example, it was available only on the touch-keyboard unlike Windows 10, which has it on both the touch as well as the physical keyboard.

How to Enable and Use Auto-correct Misspelled Words and Text Suggestions with Hardware Keyboards on Windows 10?

Use the following steps to enable and use auto-correct misspelled words and text suggestions with hardware keyboards on Windows 10:-

Step 1: Go to the Settings app on your computer by simultaneously pressing Windows logo + Ikeys on your computer.

Step 2: Find the Time & language category and click on it.

Step 3: In the left sidebar, click on the Language menu.

Step 4: Click on Spelling, typing & keyboard settingson the right side pane.

Step 5: Scroll down to “Hardware keyboard” on the next page. You will find a toggle next to “Show text suggestions as I type” and “Auto-correct misspelled words I type” which you need to turn ON.

Close the Settings window if you don’t want to alter any more of the settings. Now, start typing after opening any of the applications like Notepad or Wordpad. You will see three suggestions pop-up for the word that you type.

How to Disable or Turn off Auto-correct Misspelled Words and Text Suggestions with Hardware Keyboards on Windows 10?

Use the following steps to turn off any future auto-correct misspelled words or text suggestions with hardware keyboards:-

Step 1: Go to the Settings app on your computer by simultaneously pressing Windows logo + Ikeys on your computer.

Step 2: Find the Time & language category and click on it.

Step 3: In the left sidebar, click on the Language menu.

Step 4: Click on Spelling, typing & keyboard settingson the right side pane.

Step 5: Scroll down to “Hardware keyboard” on the next page. You will find a toggle next to “Show text suggestions as I type” and “Auto-correct misspelled words I type” which you need to turn OFF.

After completing the above steps, both the “Show text suggestions as I type” and “Autocorrect misspelled words I type” features will be disabled on your computer.

You can go ahead and use a software called TinySpell to turn on the spelling check feature in Notepad and WordPad on Windows 8/7.
