How to Turn on High Contrast Themes on Windows 11?

On Windows 11 OS, Microsoft offers you different high-contrast color themes. On Windows 11, you get four high-contrast color themes designed for people with low vision. The high contrast theme or the high contrast mode is a part of the Ease of Access option of Windows 11, allowing people with vision disabilities to read the screen conveniently.

How to Configure High Contrast Themes on Windows 11?

Here, when you have poor vision light sensitivity, you should try Windows built-in high contrast theme and see if it helps you see clearly. It will help you distinguish between different things on the screen, including text, images, and objects.

Step 1. First, open the Settings app by pressing Windows + [/keybt]I[/keybt] keys on the keyboard.

Step 2. When Windows Settings opens, select the Accessibility category from the left side pane.

Step 3. On the right side pane, select Contrast themes.

Step 4. After that, in the Contrast themes settings, click the drop-down menu beside Contrast themes. You will have the following options:-

  • None
  • Aquatic
  • Desert
  • Dusk
  • Night sky

Now, select one of the preset contrast from Aquatic, Desert, Dusk, or Night sky to use right away.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut Left ALT + left SHIFT + PRINT SCREEN to turn on or off high contrast on a Windows 11 PC.

Step 5. Then, click the Apply button after selecting a theme.

After you complete it, select Contrast theme applies on your Windows 11 computer. While you complete on Contrast theme settings, click the Edit button if you want to customize a theme.

In the following window, you can customize the following items’ colors:-

  • Background
  • Text
  • Hyperlink
  • Inactive text
  • Selected text
  • Button text

Here, pressing the color box against any will open a color palette screen. Then, move your mouse to the color palette and select your desired color. Click the Done button when it’s ready.

After that, click the Save as button and name this theme in the upcoming window.
