Generally, Microsoft PowerPoint adds a black slide at the end of the original presentation regardless of the background color. It helps you to know that your presentation is over. If you do not want to include such a black slide at the end of PowerPoint, Microsoft has provided an option to turn it off. You can turn on or off the “End with black slide” option in PowerPoint by PowerPoint Options, Local Group Policy Editor, or Registry Editor.

How to Enable or Disable the “End with black slide” Option in PowerPoint Options?

By these steps to turn on or off the “End with black slide” option using PowerPoint Options:-

Step 1. Open Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

Step 2. Tap on the File menu.

Step 3. Pick Options in the left sidebar.

Step 4. Switch to the Advanced tab.

Step 5. Check (to enable) or uncheck (to disable) End with the black slide option under the section “Slide show.”

Step 6. Hit OK.

How to Allow or Disallow PowerPoint Presentation Ending with a Black Slide using Local Group Policy Editor?

Do these steps to show or hide a PowerPoint presentation ending with a black slide through Local Group Policy Editor:-

Step 1Open Local Group Policy Editor.

Step 2. Browse to the following path in the left sidebar of the Local Group Policy Editor window:-

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 > PowerPoint Options > Advanced

Step 3. Double-click on the policy name Ends with a black slide on the right side of the “Advanced” folder.

Step 4. Choose Enabled (to allow black slide) or Disabled (to disallow black slide).

Step 5. Hit Apply button.

Step 6. Press OK button.

Step 7. Restart your computer to apply the changes.

How to Show or Hide PowerPoint Presentation Ending with a Black Slide using Registry Editor?

Do these steps o Turn on or off PowerPoint presentation ending with a black slide through Registry Editor:-

Step 1Open Registry Editor on your Windows 11 or 10 PC.

Step 2. Browse to the following key in the left sidebar of the Registry Editor:-

Step 3. Right-click on the 16.0 folder to pick New > Key.

Step 4. Name the new key PowerPoint.

Step 5. Right-click on the PowerPoint folder to select New > Key.

Step 6. Name the new key as options.

Step 7. Then, right-click on the options folder to pick New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 8. Name the newly created REG_DWORD as ssendonblankslide.

Step 9. Double-click on the ssendonblankslide REG_DWORD to set its “Value data” to the following:-

  • 0: Block displaying blank slides at the end of the PowerPoint presentation.
  • 1: Allow displaying blank slides at the end of the PowerPoint presentation.

Step 10. Reboot your PC to apply the changes.
