How to Make “File Explorer” Open to “This PC” Instead of “Quick Access” on Windows 10?

File Explorer was Windows Explorer in Windows 7 operating system. Microsoft renamed Windows Explorer to File Explorer in Windows 8. The same File Explorer is available in Windows 11/10.

You can easily open File Explorer by pressing Windows + E keys together if you are using Windows 10. But, File Explorer opens with Quick Access on Windows 10 by default instead of “This PC.”

Quick-accessYou will need to click “This PC” to open the same, although there is nothing wrong with “Quick Access.” There is an option to configure the File Explorer on Windows 10 to open to This PC instead of Quick Access if you do not like this behavior of Windows 10. The Quick Access includes your frequent folders and recent files.

Quick Note: On Windows 10, We can also access File Explorer by clicking on its icon on the taskbar. But, still, it will open Quick Access.

How to Open “File Explorer” at “This PC” Instead of ” Quick Access” on Windows 10?

We need to follow the below-given steps to change the default “File Explorer” window to “This PC”:-

Step 1. First, press Windows + E keys from the keyboard together or open the File Explorer window by clicking on the icon at the taskbar.

Step 2. After that, click on the View from the File Explorer ribbon.

Step 5. FromĀ  the General tab, select This PC in the drop-down menu “Open File Explorer to.”

Step 7. Lastly, click the OK button to complete the process.

Now, whenever you open File Explorer by clicking on its icon from the Windows 10 Taskbar or by using hotkey Windows + E, File Explorer opens at “This PC.” You can still access “Quick Access” by clicking on the left sidebar of File Explorer.
