How to Enable or Disable Snap Layouts on Top of Screen on Windows 11?

Windows 11 provides you with a feature of Snap Layouts to snap a selected area on the current window. You can also automatically resize and arrange windows on your screen.

On Windows 11 build 22557 and forward, the Snap Layout feature has been added. To reveal the feature, you need to drag a window to the top of the screen, drop the window on top of a zone to snap it, and use snap assists to finish building the layout you selected.

The significant advantage of this feature is that it makes it easier for you to organize your windows on the screen. But there may be a case when you may not like it and would like to disable it. In such a case, you need to go through the following steps:

How to Enable or Disable Snap Layouts on Top of Screen on Windows 11 using Settings?

Follow the below-illustrated method to enable or disable Snap Layout on top of the screen on Windows 11:-

Step 1: Firstly,  Open the Settings app.

Step 2: Go to System on the left side.

Step 3: Find the Multitasking option on the System’s right side.

Step 4: Turn the toggle Snap windows On and then click on the Snap windows header to expand it.

Step 5: You can check or uncheck the option “Show snap layouts when I drag a window to the top of my screen” in the following screen to enable or disable this feature respectively.

How to Turn On or Off Snap Layouts on Top of Screen in Windows 11 using Registry Editor?

Step 1: Now, open the Registry Editor.

Step 2: Then, browse to the following key on the left side of Registry Editor:-

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Step 3: After that, from the right side of the “Desktop folder,” double-click on WindowArrangementActive REG_SZ and set its “Value data” to 1.

Step 4: Next, click on the OK.

Step 5: Next, navigate to the following key from the left side of Registry Editor:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Step 6: Now you have to right-click on the Advanced folder and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 7: Name the newly created REG_DWORD as EnableSnapBar.

Step 8: Double-click on EnableSnapBar REG_DWORD and set its Value data as follows:

  • 0: Disable Snap Layouts on Top of Screen.
  • 1: Enable Snap Layouts on Top of Screen.

Step 9: Finally, Click on the OK and as the last step, reboot your computer to apply the changes.
