Step 3. Now, click on Advanced options in the right-pane.

Step 1. Firstly, open Registry Editor.

Step 3. Now, right-click on the Settings folder in the left side pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Step 4. Then, name the newly created REG_DWORD as RestartNotificationsAllowed2.

Step 5. Next, double-click on the RestartNotificationsAllowed2 REG_DWORD and set its “Value data” as follows:-

• 0: Turn Off Update Restart Notification.
• 1: Turn On Update Restart Notification.

Step 6. After that, click OK.

Step 7. Finally, reboot your computer to apply the changes.

Although a restart is not mandatory after a system update, it is recommended to reboot your PC to apply the new features. Windows Updates runs in the background, and you may not notice when updates are downloaded. Once the update download is complete in the background, the system waits for you to restart it to apply new features.

If you don’t reboot or shut down your PC for several days, either the next update will not be installed on your computer, or the system will force a restart with a request of 15 minutes if necessary. Hence, after an update, it is recommended to reboot your machine.

To enable or disable update restart notification on Windows 11 using Group Policy, do the following steps:-

Step 1. Firstly, launch the Local Group Policy Editor.

Step 2. On the left side of Local Group Policy Editor, steer for the following path:-

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Legacy Policies

Step 3. After that, on the opposite side of the “Legacy Policies” folder, double-click on the policy name “Turn off auto-restart notifications for update installations.”

Step 4. Now, choose the Enabled option to hide the update restart notification on Windows 11.

Step 5. Then, click the Apply button.

Step 6. Next, press the OK button.

Step 7. At last, reboot your PC to apply the changes.
