How to Disable App Diagnostics on Windows 11?

What is App Diagnostics?

App Diagnostic is a feature in Windows Operating System that takes information to other applications running on your system. It improves the stability of those applications, but many users see this as a privacy issue and want to turn off App Diagnostics on Windows 11.

As mentioned above, App Diagnostics extracts information about apps running on your computer to make them work better on your computer. But Microsoft is selective about the kind of information they are taking. They don’t take everything about the app, but some of the information they do take care.

  • Name of the app.
  • Name of the app’s package.
  • Username of the app.
  • Memory used by the app.
  • Other processes of the app.

How to Completely Turn off App Diagnostic on Windows 11?

To turn off App Diagnostic permanently on Windows 11, use the following steps:-

Step 1. Firstly, open the Settings app.

Step 2. Now, select the Privacy & security from the left sidebar.

Step 3. Then, scroll a bit and click App Diagnostics on the right sidebar.

Step 4. At last, use the toggle switch beside “App diagnostic access” to enable or disable this feature.

How to Turn off App Diagnostic for a Specific App on Windows 11?

If you don’t want to turn off or disable app diagnostic on Windows 11 all together, but you need to disable this feature for selective programs, perform the following steps:-

Step 1. Firstly, open the Settings app.

Step 2. Now, select Privacy & Security from the left sidebar.

Step 3. Then, scroll a bit and click App Diagnostics on the right sidebar.

Step 4. After that, turn On the toggle switch beside “App diagnostic access” to enable this feature.

Step 5. Next, turn On the toggle switch beside the “Let apps access diagnostic info about your other apps” option. Then, click the down arrow button beside the toggle switch.

Step 6. So, you may find several apps that Microsoft wants to gather information. Turn Off the toggle switch next to the application name.

After you’re done with your selected application, Microsoft will no longer collect App Diagnostics data.

How to Delete Diagnostic Data on Windows 11?

If you don’t want Microsoft to use the Diagnostic Data it collected beforehand, then you can delete it using the following steps:-

Step 1. Firstly, open the Settings app.

Step 2. Now,  select Privacy & Security from the left sidebar.

Step 3. Then, scroll down a bit to find Diagnostics & feedback, and click on it to open its settings.

Step 4. After that, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the option Delete diagnostic data.

Step 5. At last, click the Delete button under the “Delete diagnostic data” header.
