Windows has a context menu option known as “send to.” When you right-click a file or folder, you will see a “send to” submenu that lets you choose a destination. By sending an item from that menu, it will be copied to that location. This submenu makes it easy to copy files and folders to another location quickly.
Context menus in Windows 11 have undergone some significant changes. Microsoft has redesigned the menu to look more modern. There are now buttons at the bottom of that menu for Cut, Copy, Rename and Delete. Windows 11’s redesigned context menu does not include the “send to” menu, but you can still access that submenu in Windows 11 using the old classic context menu.
Right-click a file or folder and select
By default, in the “Send to” menu, you will find the following options:-
- Bluetooth device (if Bluetooth exists on your PC)
- Compressed (zipped) folder
- Desktop (create shortcut)
- Documents
- Fax recipient
- Mail recipient
In addition to those apps, you can add yourself to a list with the help of third-party apps. When your PC connects to a USB drive, it appears here, so you can quickly send files and folders without copying and pasting.

Step 1. First, press

Step 5. Similarly, if you want to add any application to the “Send to” menu, drag the shortcut of that application to this folder. That application is added to the “Send to” menu. For example, if you want to add Notepad to the “Send to” menu, create a Notepad shortcut icon on the desktop. Then copy and paste that shortcut under the “Send to” folder. Finally, when you right-click on File/Folder and select the “Send to” option, Notepad will appear in this app’s list.
