As a Windows user, you might have seen that whenever you try changing the accent color for the title bars on your system, you can only apply it to the active windows, not the inactive ones. It means that the title bar of the inactive windows will continue to be black or white, depending on the theme of your OS. The good news is that you can tweak the registry a little and change the color of inactive or unfocused windows.

How to Change the Color of Inactive Title Bars on Windows 10?

Step 1: First, go to the Settings app.

Step 2: Look for the Personalization > ColorsOnce you do that, you will find the option “Tile bars and window borders” that you need to check. Your Windows OS will show the whole palette of colors it will automatically pick. You will see the selected color on active windows, title bars, and borders.

You can also choose a specific color for the active windows, title bars, and borders. To do that, you need to uncheck the option “Automatically pick an accent color from my background” and select a color of your choice.

Step 3: Next, find the Registry Editor on your system.

Step 4: Browse the following in the Registry Editor:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\DWM

Step 5: Go to New > DWORD (32-bit) Valueby right-clicking on the DWM folder.

Step 6: Name the newly created REG_DWORD to AccentColorInactive.

Step 7: Copy its “Value data” after double-clicking on AccentColor REG_DWORD.

Step 8: Open the AccentColorInactive REG_DWORD. After that, paste the copied texts into its “Value data.”

Step 9: Click on OK.

Step 10: Reboot your computer to apply the changes.

All the active and inactive title bars will now have your desired accent color.
