How Do I Open Windows PowerShell on Windows 11?

In 2008, Microsoft launched this robust scripting console app for your Windows 11 systems and called it Windows PowerShell. Although it is present on your computer and can use as the Command Prompt, it recommends using Windows Terminal as your primary console app. PowerShell comes with a wide variety of cmdlets. You must be wondering what it is. Simply put, it is a set of built-in commands that an advanced scripting language like PowerShell uses. It facilitates the user to perform simple file operations, programming, system administrative tasks, etc.

How to Open PowerShell using Windows Terminal?

Step 1: Go to the Windows Terminal.

You can do that by going to the taskbar, then to the start button. Once you do that, go to Windows Terminal.

Step 2: As the window opens, look for the downward-facing arrow beside the plus (+). Click on that.

Step 3: Go to Windows PowerShell in the drop-down menu.

Step 4: Now, Windows PowerShell will open in a new tab on your screen.

How to Launch Windows PowerShell from Run Command?

Step 1: Open the Run dialog box. You can do that by simultaneously pressing Windows + R.

Step 2: In the dialog box, type the following and press Enter:-

PowerShell will display on your screen.

How to Open Windows PowerShell using Command Prompt?

Step 1: First, Open Command Prompt on your computer.

You can do that by navigating to the taskbar and then going to the Search button. In the search option, type CMD. Click on Command Prompt in the search results.

How to Launch Windows PowerShell from Context Menu?

You can launch Windows Powershell from the context menu of any folder. The hidden command is contained in File Explorer by default. You can use the following steps to launch Powershell from the context menu:-

Step 1: As the first step, press and hold Shift on your keyboard. Once you do that, right-click anywhere on the space or in the folder where you want the PowerShell console to open.

Step 2: In the context menu, click on Show more options.

Step 3: You will find the option “Open PowerShell window here.” Click on it. PowerShell will launch from the context menu on your computer.
