Customize File Explorer’s Context Menu in Windows 10 using Context Menu Tuner

We have discussed the Context Menu and its functions several times on this website. For those who don’t know the context menu, it is a list of options on your screen whenever you right-click on a blank space on your desktop. It can be helpful since it helps you access various applications and tools with a single click. It consists of several options, from arranging desktop icons, increasing or decreasing icon size, refreshing your Windows Desktop, accessing display settings, and much more.

This risewindows article has brought you an application called Context Menu Tuner, which helps you customize the context menu on operating systems like Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7. You can also customize Windows Explorer’s context menu. With the help of this software, you can add any Ribbon command to the context menu of any file, folder, desktop, and even specific file type. You can even include those commands which are not added to the ribbon by default.

It also allows you to choose the icon and tile for the context menu item and add command-line arguments for your application. You can even decide the position for every item that you want in the context menu. And all this comes for free.

How to Customize File Explorer’s Context Menu in Windows 10/8/7 using Context Menu Tuner?

Use the following steps to customize File Explorer’s Context Menu in Windows 10/8/7 using Context Menu Tuner:-

Step 1: Go to Winaero and download the Context Menu Tuner.

Step 2: Use WinRAR or any other archiver and extract the Tuner into a folder.

Step 3: Double-click on the ContextMenuTuner application and launch it from your extracted folder.

Step 4: You will get a list of options on the left side pane of the Context Menu Tuner commands. Select the ones that you want to add to the Context Menu.

In the above image, the “Uninstall or change a program” command is selected.

Step 5: Next, choose the destination from the options available on the right side pane. You can choose from All files, Folder, Desktop, Local Disk, and Library.

Step 6: Go to the Add option and click on it.

Step 7: Click on the Add to selected item option to see the command on the Desktop.

Step 8: You can customize the newly added items by selecting them on the right side pane and then the “Menu Item Options” on the bottom right side.

The following options are allowed to be set:-

  • Don’t allow this item to be the default
  • Show this item only if SHIFT is pressed
  • Add Separator Before
  • Add Separator After

The Position drop-down menu helps to change the position of the menu item.

Step 9: Choose the Remove option if you want to remove any option from the context menu.

Once done with the above steps, the selected commands will be displayed at the destination. As mentioned, we added the command: “Uninstall or change a program.” As a result, the same command will be included, as shown in the image below.
