How to Show or Hide the Taskbar Search Button on Windows 11?

A Computer Has lots of files. At that time, we can use this search for quick Results. Search plays a significant role on Windows. So Microsoft has put a Search button on its taskbar by default. The new Start Menu has a search box at the top, letting you search anything directly. Using Windows Search, you can search for files, and folders, query the web, etc.

However, if you think it is not necessary for you to keep the Search button on the taskbar or you want to gain more space on the taskbar, Microsoft allows you to remove this button.

Let us see, How to Show / Hide the Taskbar Search Button on Windows 11. You can either use the Settings app or change the Registry.

How to Show or Hide Search Button from Windows 11 Taskbar via Settings App?

To add or remove the Search Button, do the following:-

First Method

Step 1. Open the Settings app.

Step 2. Select Personalization from the left sidebar of the Settings window.

Step 3. Click on the Taskbar tile to the right side of Personalization,

Step 4. When the Taskbar page opens, under the “Taskbar items,” turn the On/ Off Search toggle switch to enable or disable the Search button.

Second Method

Step 1. First of all, Right-click on the Taskbar and select Taskbar settings.

Step 2. Under the “Taskbar items,” turn the On or Off Search toggle switch to enable or disable the Search button on Windows 11 Taskbar.

How to Add or Remove Search Button from Taskbar using Registry Editor?

Do the following steps through Registry Editor:-

Step 1. Open the Registry Editor.

Step 2. Browse the following key on the left sidebar of Registry Editor:-


Step 3. Double-click on the SearchboxTaskbarMode REG_DWORD and set its “Value data.”

  •  To Hide Taskbar Search Button.
  •  To Display Taskbar Search Button.

Step 4. Finally, click the OK button.

In this case, you don’t need to boot your computer. Because, Once you complete the above steps, Search Button will immediately appear or disappear from Windows 11 Taskbar.
